Everything You Need to Know About Our Ceramic Tea Canisters
Here you'll find answers about ceramic tea canisters, tea storage, sealing design, product care, orders, shipping, returns, and customer support.
Product Information
What can I store in a ceramic tea canister?
Our ceramic tea canisters are primarily designed for storing dry tea leaves, including:
- Green tea
- Black tea
- Oolong tea
- White tea
- Loose pu-erh tea
- Floral tea
- Herbal tea
- Other suitable dry teas
Some designs may also be suitable for storing other dry foods. Please refer to the individual product page for specific details.
What are the tea canisters made from?
Our tea canisters are primarily made from ceramic materials.
Different styles may feature different glazes, textures, colors, and surface finishes. Please refer to the individual product page for exact details.
Sealing & Freshness
Are the ceramic tea canisters airtight?
This depends on the specific product design.
Some models may include:
- Silicone sealing rings
- Fitted lids
- Double-lid designs
- Close-fitting covers
If a product features a specific sealing system, this will be stated on the individual product page.
Can the tea canister help keep tea fresh?
A well-designed storage container can help reduce exposure to air, dust, and environmental moisture.
However, tea freshness also depends on:
- The type of tea
- Storage duration
- Room temperature
- Humidity
- Sunlight exposure
- The original tea manufacturer's storage recommendations
We recommend following the storage instructions provided with your tea.
Does the canister completely block out air?
Unless the product is specifically described as fully airtight, it should not be considered a vacuum-sealed or completely airproof container.
Sealing performance varies depending on the lid design.
Tea Storage
How should I store tea in a ceramic canister?
We recommend keeping the tea canister in a location that is:
- Cool
- Dry
- Away from direct sunlight
- Away from heat
- Away from strong odors
Make sure the inside of the canister is completely dry before adding tea.
Can I store damp tea leaves inside?
We do not recommend it.
Ceramic tea canisters are better suited for storing dry tea leaves.
Tea with higher moisture content or other perishable foods may require refrigeration or other special storage conditions.
Can I mix different types of tea in one canister?
Generally, we do not recommend it.
Different teas may absorb or transfer aromas.
To help preserve the original fragrance and character of each tea, it is better to store different varieties separately.
Size & Capacity
How much tea can one canister hold?
Actual capacity depends on:
- Canister size
- Type of tea
- Leaf size
- How tightly or loosely the tea is packed
For example, tightly rolled tea leaves and large loose-leaf teas may take up different amounts of space even at the same weight.
How do I choose the right size?
If you usually store a small amount of tea, a small or medium canister may be suitable.
If you regularly purchase larger tea packages, a larger-capacity canister may be more practical.
Please review the dimensions and capacity listed on the product page before purchasing.
Ceramic Characteristics
Will every ceramic tea canister look exactly the same?
Not always.
Ceramic products may naturally show slight differences in:
- Glaze color
- Surface texture
- Small speckles
- Pattern placement
- Shape
- Dimensions
- Hand-finished details
These minor variations are part of the natural ceramic production process and do not necessarily indicate a defect.
Why does the actual color look slightly different from the website photos?
Product appearance may vary due to:
- Lighting conditions
- Screen settings
- Production batches
- Glaze firing results
- Hand-finishing processes
We make every effort to display product colors and details as accurately as possible.
Lid Use
Why does the lid feel tight when the canister is new?
Some sealing-style lids may feel slightly tight during initial use.
Hold the canister securely with both hands and open the lid gently and evenly.
Do not force, strike, or pry open a ceramic lid with sharp tools.
Can I carry the entire canister by the lid?
We do not recommend it.
When moving the product, hold or support the body of the canister.
Do not lift a full ceramic canister only by the lid or decorative lid handle.
Cleaning & Care
Should I clean the tea canister before first use?
Yes.
We recommend cleaning the canister before first use.
After cleaning, make sure both the canister and lid are completely dry before adding tea.
How should I clean a ceramic tea canister?
We recommend using:
- Warm water
- Mild detergent
- A soft sponge
- A soft cleaning cloth
Avoid using:
- Metal brushes
- Abrasive scrubbers
- Strong acidic cleaners
- Strong alkaline cleaners
- Corrosive chemicals
- Sharp tools
These may damage the glaze or decorative finish.
Why should the canister be completely dry before adding tea?
Residual water or moisture inside the canister may affect the storage condition of dry tea leaves.
Always make sure the interior and lid are fully dry before refilling.
Odors & Changing Tea
Should I clean the canister before changing to a different type of tea?
Yes, we recommend doing so.
This is especially helpful if the previous tea had a strong aroma.
Cleaning and thoroughly drying the canister can help reduce fragrance transfer between different teas.
What should I do if a new canister has a slight odor?
A new product may have a slight odor from packaging, transport, or storage conditions.
Clean the canister and allow it to air out and dry completely before use.
Dishwasher & Microwave Use
Can ceramic tea canisters go in the dishwasher?
Dishwasher suitability depends on the specific product.
Products with:
- Hand-painted decoration
- Metallic accents
- Special glazes
- Wooden lids
- Silicone sealing components
may be better suited for hand washing.
Please refer to the individual product care instructions.
Can the tea canister go in the microwave?
Tea canisters are primarily designed for storage, not heating.
Unless the product page specifically states that the item is microwave-safe, we do not recommend placing it in a microwave.
Placement & Everyday Use
Where should I place my tea canister?
Suitable locations include:
- Kitchen counters
- Tea cabinets
- Tea rooms
- Sideboards
- Storage shelves
- Tea stations
Always place the canister on a flat, stable surface.
Can I place it in direct sunlight?
We do not recommend it.
Prolonged direct sunlight may affect tea quality and may also influence certain decorative finishes.
A cool, dry location is generally best.
Safe Use
What should I do if the canister becomes cracked or chipped?
Stop using the product if it develops:
- Significant cracks
- Sharp chips
- Broken edges
- Structural damage
Damaged ceramic may create sharp edges.
Can ceramic tea canisters break if dropped?
Yes.
Ceramic is a hard but breakable material.
Strong impact or dropping the product onto a hard surface may cause cracking, chipping, or breakage.
Please handle the canister with care.
Packaging
How are ceramic tea canisters packaged?
Because ceramic products are fragile, we use protective packaging suited to the size and structure of the product to help reduce movement and impact during transit.
Is it normal if the packaging looks different from the website photos?
Yes.
Packaging may occasionally be updated because of:
- Production changes
- Shipping requirements
- Packaging material availability
As a result, the packaging you receive may differ slightly from images shown online.

Returned products generally must be:
- Unused
- Clean
- Undamaged
- Complete with accessories
- In resalable condition
- Returned with original packaging where reasonably possible
Please contact us before sending a return.
